All About College.com   There is a wealth of information to be found on this site concerning colleges around the world (links to their home pages); a graduate school directory (U. S. only); links for study opportunities as an exchange student; links for study guides and books to help you prepare for the SAT/PSAT, ACT, GRE, and other tests; financial aid, scholarships, and student loans; and a job search feature that lets you look for an internship, summer job or the start of your career. 

Campus Tours See a virtual tour of the college/university of your choice.  The site has over eight hundred colleges and universities listed and may be viewed by state or an alphabetical listing.

Career Guide to Industries     This is the Bureau of Labor Statistics guide to careers in industries. 

Career Key  This is a free public site that can help students, their parents, teachers, counselors make better choices about colleges, careers and training. The site does require a login - use an alias and no personal information!

Career Paths This site is divided into three parts: Career Choices, with tips on making that decision; Career Biographies, which contains professional insight into professional careers; and Career Preparation where you can learn how to interview and receive tips on creating resumes. 

Career Voyages    From the U.S. Department of Labor, find information on emerging industries such as biotechnology, geospatial technology, and nanotechnology as well as general industry job information.

College Board.com The collegeboard.com site has a wealth of information to help you plan for college; hints and tips on test taking; finding the right college; getting into college; and paying for college.

College is Possible This site is a resource for parents, students, and education professionals to help prepare for college; choose the right college; and pay for college. It also has a section for adults who are going back to college.

Environmental Careers/Earth Science Reference Page While this page was created for a class assignment for UI, it has many good links to offer students information about careers in the environmental and earth sciences.

Guidance Central If you haven't established a password here in one of your classes, ask for initial login information from the librarian. A career interest quiz is available here

Illinois Career Resource Network    This site offers comprehensive information on occupations, the education needed to be successful at them, and allows you to match your interests to occupations.

Illinois Student Assistance Commission   Site offers interest surveys, job descriptions, financial aid information and much more.

JobStar Central You will want to check the information under the "Career Guides"  link for information on a wide variety of careers. Click on the "Resume" link onsite to find good information on the right kind of resume for you.

Military Career Guide Online This site gives details on 152 enlisted and officer occupations. It is a compendium of military occupational, training, and career information designed for use by students desiring to explore the military world of work. 

Occupational Outlook Handbook  The Occupational Outlook Handbook describes what workers do on the job, working conditions,  training and education required, the range of earnings that might be expected, and job prospects in a wide range of occupations. The handbook is revised every two years.  We also have print copies available in the library for student use.

O*Net Resource Center  was developed for the US Department of Labor to help people find out which jobs would fit their interests and skills, to research that dream career, and learn how to be successful in their field.

Peterson's Guide to Colleges This is a huge site with information about colleges and universities, career schools, graduate programs, distance learning, executive training, private secondary schools, summer opportunities, study abroad, financial aid, test preparation, and career exploration. Peterson's offers books, online services, practice tests and a financial aid database with billions of dollars worth of grants, scholarships, and prizes.

Quintessential Careers: a career and job-hunting resource guide Check the links under the "Main Features" column heading for information. Of particular interest will be "Open Our Career Toolkit" and "Pursue and Education" links.
