Current hours: 7:45 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday
The library will be maintained as a quiet place to study, read and do research.
Students may come to the library during their lunch period.
The following is expected of students while they are in the library:
Centralia High School students are issued an ID card at the beginning of each school year that doubles as the library card. We also require students to place their own current year ID card on the top of the Internet computer terminals while using them.
If a student loses his/her card, he/she may purchase another one in the main office for $10.00.
Centralia High School students may check out books from the CHS library for a period of three weeks. These items may be renewed for another three weeks if the student is not finished with them at the time the books are due. We require the ID card to be used at the time of check out and renewal. Each item checked out is stamped with a sticker on the inside back cover with the date that the item is due.
Reference books may also be checked out, but only on an overnight basis. They may be checked out after school and must be returned between 8:00 a.m. and the beginning of first period on the following school day to avoid incurring a fine.
Students may check out materials from other libraries in the Shawnee Library System. These materials must be placed on hold at one of the two terminals located in the library on the table on the east side of the circulation desk.
Students may also go to the Shawnee Library System online catalog linked from the CHS library's home page on the Internet computers. Students may search this catalog for materials in our library or any of the other libraries in the system. However, at this time, they may not place holds on materials over the Internet catalog link.
The length of time interlibrary loan materials may be checked out and their availability for renewal is subject to restrictions placed on the materials by the library that owns them.
Centralia High School Library materials that are kept beyond the due date are subject to a fine of 5 cents per day per book. This fine must be paid before the student will be allowed to renew materials or check out different ones.
Reference materials kept beyond 1st period on the day that they are due are subject to a 25 cent per class period fine until returned. In order to facilitate the best use of reference materials for all of the students of Centralia High School it is important that all of the reference materials be available to all students during the school day.
Students using the library's computers are subject to the terms of the Acceptable Use Policy of Centralia High School. This is a list of specific things that students are/are not allowed to do with respect to computer usage everywhere in the high school, including the library.
